The Five Step
Process of Appraisals:
-
Let’s visit, discuss your project and sign an
authorizing agreement to proceed.
-
When I arrive at your door, I’ll be prepared to inspect
and document your collection.
-
I’ll engage in research: review any paperwork or
provenance you may have provided, evaluate each item
(identifying marks, intrinsic qualities, etc.), research the
appropriate market for comparable sales,
analyze and reconcile market data,
consult experts as
necessary, and develop an appraisal document.
-
You will receive a formal narrative appraisal report
with the following critical elements: a) discussion of
methodology, market, resources, and conditions b) thorough
descriptions of each item c) valuation d) photographs e) my
signature f) summary of my qualifications.
-
Having reviewed the report, you may follow up with
comments and questions, which I welcome.
